Cyclone Jawad likely to weaken into deep depression by the time it reaches Puri coast: IMD

- 11 teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), five teams of State Disaster Response Force, six Coast Guard teams and ten Marine Police teams have been deployed in Vishakapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday said that Cyclone Jawad, which is currently over the west-central Bay of Bengal, is likely to weaken into a deep depression before making landfall near Puri in Odisha on Sunday.(PTI)

"It is likely to weaken gradually and move nearly northwards during the next 12 hours and then north-northeastwards along the coast of Odisha, reaching near Puri around December 5 noon as a deep depression. Subsequently, it is likely to weaken further and continue to move north-northeastwards along the coast of Odisha towards the coast of West Bengal," India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a statement.(PTI)
