HTLS Day 3 wrap up: Jaishankar on security, Valter Longo on longevity and more
On the third day of Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, prominent personalities from various walks of life talked about what the ‘New World Order’ stands in their fields. In the first session, former Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Mishra, during whose tenure Article 377 annulment came into existence, spoke with Utkarsh Anand, national legal editor of Hindustan Times. In the following session, external affairs minister S Jaishankar joined in conversation with Pramit Pal Chaudhuri, foreign affairs expert, in which he talked about India’s security matters, Afghanistan and relation with neighbouring countries. The last session featured biogerontologist and cell biologist Valter Longo, who threw light on the secrets of longevity and the correct diet one needs to follow for the same, while in conversation with health communications specialist Sanchita Sharma.

During conversation with Hindustan Times national legal editor Utkarsh Anand, former CJI of India Justice Dipak Mishra said that pan-world organisations must act as “building blocks” to bring the world to normalcy from the fear psychosis caused by Covid-19.

Justice Dipak Mishra noted that modern approach in new world order has transformed the ambit of human rights, and has also brought about a “perpetual shift” among citizens.

On day 3 of HTLS 2021, Justice Dipak Mishra said that during Covid-19 pandemic, legal domain switched to digital environment that renders global reach as well as “stupendous connectivity.”

Talking about India's regional security, S Jaishankar said, “Don't be be over-obsessed with one country or one situation.”

S Jaishankar hailed India’s relation with the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He added that the UAE is one key region in India’s western neighbourhood that has been ignored from diplomatic perspective. “Before Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the last Indian head to the state to visit the country was Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Now, our bilateral policies with respect to UAE is seeing impressive outcomes under the current regime,” Jaishankar noted at HTLS 2021.

As a secret behind longetivity, biogerontologist and cell biologist Valter Longo told health communications specialist Sanchita Sharma that one should follow “periodically mimicking diet” that lasts for five days.
