TTEs in Rajendra Nagar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express go hi-tech

The East Central Railway (ECR), headquartered at Hajipur, has equipped the travelling tickets examiners (TTEs) of Rajendra Nagar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express (12309/10) with hand-held hi-tech devices, called Hand-held terminals, to utilize the berths that fall vacant in case of passengers entitled fail to turn up.

This premier superfast train runs at 130 kmph with 95 to 100% occupancy throughout the year between Patna and New Delhi.

The hand-held devices, each costing ₹25,000, have already been provided to the TTEs of Shatabdi Express trains in the Indian Railways.

Chief spokesperson of ECR, Rajesh Kumar, said that all the five TTEs of Patna-New Delhi Rajdhani have been equipped with the hand-held devices to check the availability of berths for Reservation Against Cancellation (RAC) and or waiting list passengers on running trains.

“The TTEs are now paperless and don’t carry stacks of reservation charts. The hassle-free update on the berths will help in ensuring berths to passengers travelling on Rajendra Nagar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express on RAC status,” Kumar said.

The status of berths is updated online with the help of this GPS-enabled device within few hours after the train leaves from the originating station.

“The ECR has procured 550 such hand-held devices for the TTEs of almost all important mail and express trains of this zone,” Kumar said.

The next train to get this on-board is the Rajendranagar-New Delhi-Sampooran Kranti Express (12393/94) in next few months. This is the second most important train after the Rajdhani Express that runs with 100% of occupancy round the year.

Other trains to get this facility include Patna-Kota Express, Baruni-Lucknow Express, Barauni-New Delhi-Vaishali Express, Gaya-New Delhi Mahabodhi Express, Magadh Express, Shramjivi Express, Darbhanga-New Delhi Samparak Kranti Express and Howrah-Rajendra Nagar Express and others mail trains.
