A seven-year-old schoolboy was kidnapped here on Monday morning in the downtown Gandhi Maidan area.

The boy, Shreshth Sanjay, a Class I student of Christ Church Diocesan school, was snatched away from an auto-rickshaw when he was on the way to his school.
Eyewitnesses said that two kidnappers stopped the vehicle at gunpoint near the official residence of the city's senior superintendent of police and pulled out Shreshth before fleeing on a motorcycle.
Other children in the auto-rickshaw shouted for help, but the kidnappers silenced them by threatening to shoot them.
Though the driver of the auto-rickshaw, Ravi, informed a police patrol car, by the time the policemen flashed the
message, the kidnappers had vanished with the child.
Ravi who had immediately informed the victim’s mother, Kalpana Srivastava about the incident was, however, picked by the police for questioning. Shresth is the only son of Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, a marketing executive for a pharmaceuticals company.
Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) Neelmani said a special police team had been formed to investigate the case. However, the police conducted several raids in and around Patna, but failed to find any clue about the whereabouts of the boy.
In 2007, a 14-year-old boy was kidnapped on his way to school. Despite assurances, the police failed to trace him.
