A week after Badminton Association of India president VK Verma was arrested for alleged irregularities during organising of the Commonwealth Games, the first signs of revolt in the sports governing body were evident on Wednesday with the executive committee revoking the suspension of general secretary Dr Vijai Singh.
The executive committee had suspended Sinha last year in August after his tussle with Verma over who should have the executive powers in the association turned ugly.
"The executive committee that met in Delhi on Wednesday has decided to revoke his suspension and restore his powers," said a member.
Verma was arrested by CBI last week and has been sent to 14 days of judicial custody.
The committee also decided to make Akhilesh Das, Member of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh and Hemanta Biswa Sharma, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of Assam, as the co-chairman to conduct business with the government till elections are held in accordance with the government guidelines sometime in April.
Signals win opener in all-india basketball

For Signals, Pramod Kumar (22) and M. Vaithinathan (11) were the main scorers while PNC Happy Singh (16) and Prabhjot Singh (12) scored for Prathivnath Club.
Triple f1 world champ Stewart hospitalised
LONDON: Three-time Formula One champion Jackie Stewart was taken to hospital on Wednesday after suffering chest pains on a flight from Switzerland to London, his office said. "Sir Jackie is in Hillingdon Hospital... after a physical setback on a flight back from Geneva to Heathrow early this afternoon," a statement added.
