Baba Ramdev led a group of celebrities and stormed into the ring to hug and congratulate Vijender Singh on his victory. But what the Indian “celebrity fans” should realise is that, whatever be the occasion, one should uphold the sanctity of the playing field, not to forget implications of security breach.

There is no disputing the fact that Baba Ramdev is an avid sports fan. When Vijender Singh retained his WBO Asia Pacific Super-Middleweight belt by beating his Tanzanian challenger, Francis Cheka, in three rounds, Baba Ramdev, who was seated on the front row for the bout at Thyagaraj Stadium, displayed that love of sports in a rather annoying fashion.

He led a group of celebrities and stormed into the ring to hug and congratulate Vijender Singh on his victory. Of course, it was all done with good intention as the “boxing fans” gathered on the front row had every right to celebrate their champion’s victory.

But what the Indian “celebrity fans” should realise is that, whatever be the occasion, one should uphold the sanctity of the playing field and also maintain decorum, not to forget implications of security breach.

However, the debate is is not about security measures. A playing field hallowed turn in its own right and no one has the right to storm it.

On Saturday at the Thyagaraj Stadium, that sanctity was not respected, not by Baba Ramdev, not by the organisers of the fight, who should have ensured such things don’t happen and create confusion.
