Tiger Woods, the 14-time Major winner, will return at the Hero World Challenge after recovering from an injury which has kept him out since August last year.

In the middle of nowhere, hope floats for Tiger Woods. After announcing his return at last month’s Safeway Open, the season opener of the PGA Tour, and then retracting, there couldn’t have been a better stage to come back to competitive golf than his own event.

Ready to unfold in the arid settings of the Albany Championship Golf Course, the Hero World Challenge will showcase the 14-time Major winner’s recovery from injury, which kept him out since August last year.

Watching him chip effortlessly on Monday, the first impression was that the former world No 1 was at ease and raring to get back where he belongs, among the best. The marquee field, comprising an elite field of 18 players, is just the stage to set the adrenalin rushing.

Tiger spent considerable time at the course on Monday, even playing nine holes with Rio Olympics gold medallist Justin Rose. “I am excited to make my return….. and play in this terrific tournament,” he said in a statement.

A five-time winner, Tiger last featured in the $3.5 million tournament in 2014 at the Isleworth Golf and Country Club in Windermere, Florida.

Before he tees off at noon on Thursday with Patrick Reed, Tiger will address reporters on Tuesday morning, and an insight can be on his journey in the last 15 months.
