The duo had got engaged in a small, private ceremony at Sakshi’s residence in October last year, two months after Sakshi had returned home with a bronze medal from Rio Olympics. The wedding ceremony though is expected to be a grand affair with sportspersons such as Sachin Tendulkar, PV Sindhu, Dipa Karmakar and Virender Sehwag expected to take part.

“We have invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda, Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, entire state cabinet and many others from the sports and Bollywood industries. We would love it if everyone could make it,” Sakshi’s mother Sudesh Malik told HT, adding that the entire family was happy and excited for the occasion.

The 23-year-old Satyawart, more than a year younger to Sakshi, is the son of Arjuna Awardee wrestler Satyavan Kadian. He trains at his father’s Akhada in Rohtak, and has bagged several medals for wrestling in India and abroad. He won his first medal, a bronze, at the 2010 Youth Olympics but came into international limelight when he won a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow in 2014. He was also the second runner-up in much-hyped Bharat Kesri Dangal organised by the Haryana government in Gurgaon last year, where the state government presented Rs 1 crore prize to the winner.

“My father always wanted me to be a wrestler, so he started training me in childhood. To his good luck, even his daughter-in-law is also a wrestler,” Satyawart said.

The couple had recently shared a photograph telling their big date -- April 2-- to their fans on Facebook.
