I’m addicted to my phone, in love with social media: Saina Nehwal

Ace shuttler Saina Nehwal talks about being social media savvy; says she feels incomplete if she doesn’t update her accounts everyday.

She spends most of her time on court, either practising or playing intense matches, but off-court, badminton champ Saina Nehwal is just another youngster who can’t do without her phone.

“In love” with social media, the Padma Bhushan recipient says she always makes time to access her social media accounts.

“It helps me keep in touch with my fans and friends. Now if I don’t access my accounts or update them every day, I feel incomplete. There is no shying away or denying that I am addicted to my phone,” says Saina.

Not just her phone, the ace shuttler is also addicted to her laptop and has a Fitbit fitness band that she religiously uses.

“I was recently signed up to endorse a smartphone - Honor, the e-brand from Huawei, and this couldn’t have come at a better time. These days no one has time and people are always busy staring into their phones. I also belong to the same category, but I like keeping my fans updated. I conduct question-and-answer sessions with my followers as I believe they motivate and encourage me each time I win or lose a match. I also post selfies to give a sneak peek into my life,” says Saina, who also jokes about the advantages of endorsing a phone.

“Unfortunately, I have a history of losing phones, but now I guess I won’t have to worry about losing any more phones,” she signs off.
