Trial run on 10km stretch of Noida-Greater Noida Metro Aqua line begins
Noida Metro rail corporation were to start the full trial on 30km Noida-Greater Noida Metro by April 15, as per the scheduled deadline.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has started its test trial run on a 10km stretch from Greater Noida’s Depot Metro station to Noida’s sector 149 Metro station on the 29.7km long Noida-Greater Noida ‘Aqua’ Metro line.

On February 2, the DMRC had started its trial run on a 1km stretch between Depot Metro station and Yard (workshop). However, the DMRC is yet to begin its trial on remaining 19.7km stretch between Sector 149 Metro station to Sector 71/51 Metro station, as the work on laying cables is still under way, officials said.
“We are yet to get a final date on the full trial on the 29.7-km stretch. But it will happen once we get the required clearance,” PD Upadhyay, executive director of the NMRC, said.
Noida Metro rail corporation were to start the full trial on 30km Noida-Greater Noida Metro by April 15, as per the scheduled deadline.
The Noida Metro rail corporation, which was formed on November 14, 2014, owns this ₹5,503 crore project (including land cost). In 2015, the NMRC roped in the DMRC, which started work on this project in May, 2015. The trial was to start by end of 2017.

However, the DMRC could not start the full trial by 2017-end because it failed to get adequate power supply on time. After failing to begin trial by 2017 the DMRC set April 15 as the deadline to begin trial on this track. However the DMRC could not start trial on April 15 because work on the track is yet to be finished.
“The DMRC is yet to set a date on when it will start the trial on this route. We do not know the exact date of the trial run on the full stretch. We are awaiting reply from the DMRC,” Upadhyay said.
The DMRC, however, is doing the test trial on the 10km stretch between Greater Noida’s Depot station and Noida’s Sector 149 Metro station from April.
On February 28, the Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited started supplying 400 KV (kilo volt) electricity supply from Sector 148 substation to 30km Noida-Greater Noida Metro Link.
“In February, we wrote to Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) in Lucknow for inspection of this link and clearance. Once the RDSO gives its clearance, we will think of starting operations on this link,” Upadhayay said.
