Three days after a speeding BMW car hit four persons, leaving one dead, the police have failed to arrest the driver.

According to the police, the car was driven by Vinod Dedha. He runs a gym in Sector 22.
While the police are unable to trace him, Vinod on Monday filed an application in a local court, informing that he wants to surrender. However, on Tuesday, he filed an application in the court, seeking more time to surrender.
The incident took place on Saturday. The speeding BMW car had hit four persons near Gate Number 7 of the Noida Stadium. The driver fled the spot, leaving the car behind.
One of those hit by the car, air-conditioner mechanic Ghulfam Ali (22), died in hospital. Ghulfam and his friend Anwar were riding a bike when the accident took place. Anwar was also injured.
“Our teams are conducting raids to arrest the accused. We have again moved a plea in the court for the issue of a non-bailable warrant against the accused. But the court turned it down, citing the application submitted by the accused in which he has sought time to surrender,” said Anup Singh, deputy superintendent of police (circle 2), Gautam Budh Nagar.
The police said they are scanning CCTV camera footages to identify the other car in which Vinod allegedly fled after the accident.
“Witnesses told us that two cars were racing when the incident took place. Also, it is being said that the accused used a pistol to scare people and disperse the crowd. He then fled the spot in the other car,” said Singh.
Sources said the police have deputed personnel, in civil clothes, around the district court to arrest the accused.
“He has been charged under sections of the IPC which are non-bailable. He will be sent to jail whether he surrenders or is arrested,” said Singh.
On Sunday, family, friends and colleagues of Ghulfam blocked the main road in Sector 12-22 for over an hour, demanding compensation for the family and immediate arrest of the accused.
