STF of UP Police arrests five ‘shooters’ of Sundar Bhati gang in Greater Noida

The special task force (west) of the UP police have arrested five alleged shooters of the Sundar Bhati gang from their hideout at Ecotech 1 area of Greater Noida.

The special task force (west) of the UP police have arrested five alleged shooters of the Sundar Bhati gang who were involved in a number of cases of murder, attempt to murder, over a dozen cases of robbery, extortion and arms Act. Police said the accused — Hariya, Bunty Sharma, Azaad, Anil alias Goli and Brajesh Sharma were arrested on Tuesday night from their hideout at Ecotech 1 area of Greater Noida.

Gangster Sundar Bhati, who has over two dozen criminal cases lodged against him, is currently lodged in the jail and his accomplices are trying to regain the terror of the gang in western UP, police said.

“The accused were involved in over a dozen cases of armed robberies in western UP in last three months. They were raising funds for the gang. They were hiding in Ecotech 1 area to execute over half a dozen murders in coming days. Also, they were planning to attack on police teams to help their accomplices escape during hearing in the court,” said Raj Kumar Mishra, deputy superintendent of police (DSP), STF west.

Police said the accused were planning to eliminate slain Dadupur village head Harender Nagar’s wife Bevan Nagar, who is also an assembly election candidate of Samajwadi Party, and his brother Ravi.

“Bhati gang members had killed Harender two years back in a daylight attack in which a constable had also died. The STF had arrested almost all of the gang members involved in murder of Harender. The accused were planning to help their accomplices, who were booked for murder of Harender, from police custody. Also, they were planning to kill the counsel of slain BJP leader Vijay Pandit’s family, who was murdered by the gang three years back,” said Mishra.

Police said the shooters were also planning to kill headman of Naroli village Gyanendra due to personal rivalry.

“We have recovered an illegal high powered 9 mm pistol with live cartridges, a .32 bore revolver and a .315 bore country made pistol from the possession of the accused persons. They were produced in the court and were sent to jail,” said Mishra.
