The deceased are constable Mohan Singh (35) and Balraj Singh (42), and Yash Agrawal (23) who was in the car.

DSP Harendra Singh (38) was injured and his condition is critical.

The car's driver, Hash Varshney (24) suffered multiple fractures and was admitted at a hospital. Many other policemen escaped with minor injuries.

According to police, Harendra and other policemen were towing a truck that had turned turtle on the Expressway. At around 11pm, a speeding white Maruti Swift car rammed into the police team.

“The injured were rushed to the hospital where two of our constables were declared dead on arrival. The driver of the car also died in the accident. Harendra Singh received critical head injuries,” said Ajay Kumar, deputy superintendent of police, Greater Noida.

“Currently he is in a coma. He underwent neurosurgery but has still not gained consciousness. He is admitted in the ICU,” said RN Mishra, SP Traffic.

Police said four young men were travelling towards Noida at very high speed. A case of rash and negligent driving and other relevant sections of IPC was registered at Surajpur police station. Three other occupants of the car were admitted at different hospitals.

Frequent fatal accidents on the expressway are raising questions on its management. Two days back, a couple was mowed down by an unidentified vehicle near Sector 44 when they were trying to cross the expressway.
