Scores of residents of Skytech Matrott in Sector 76 staged a protest against high maintenance charges, delay in registry of flats and poor upkeep of generators and lifts. The residents said that many of the lifts in the 11 towers of the society often stop working leading to inconvenience to the residents. The builder, however, refuted the claims and accused the protesters of getting ‘carried away’ as some of them nursed personal grudges.

“High power generator sets are required in the locality. The two 600 kVA gensets are not enough for residents of 716 flats in 11 towers. They often breakdown during high demand of electricity leading to an outage in the society,” said Dr Gurdeep Singh, a local resident.
About 50 residents carried out a peaceful protest on Sunday afternoon and accused the builder for trying to threaten them with the help of some local bouncers.
“The builder had called a number of bouncers during the protest to muzzle our voices. They also threatened some mediapersons who had come to cover the protest. We are not afraid of such things. We want the registry of our flats done and reasonable maintenance charges,” said Singh.
Owner of Skytech builders, Mayank Chawla, however, said that they have received completion certificate from the Noida authority 10 days back and every resident of the society can apply for the registry of flats.
“The maintenance charge is equal to what other builders are charging. If there is a problem with the lifts, then why did the protesters not show the dysfunctional lifts to the mediapersons. We are fully cooperating with the residents and we want their cooperation also to make the society a great place to live,” said Mayank.
He denied calling any bouncers to threaten the protestors or the mediapersons and accused the residents for levelling false allegations.
“This must be a job of one of the protestors. We have not called any bouncers. I have asked my security supervisor to make sure that no such bouncers shall enter the premises of the building,” said Mayank.
