One week on, four-year-old girl from Noida still missing

A four-year-old girl missing from Sector 22 since May 12 is yet to be found. The family of the girl, Kashish Rawat, has put up posters across the city and the police have been using social media websites and tools to circulate information about her.

“She was playing outside our residence on the evening of May 12. After a while I went out to look for her when she did not return. We searched every possible place, but she was not found. We finally registered a case at the Sector 12-22 police post hoping that the police would find her. More than one month has passed, but we don’t have any clue about her,” said Sanjay Rawat, the girl’s father.

Rawat said he collected money to print coloured posters and put them up across the city in search of his daughter.

“So far, we have stuck over 2,000 posters across the city. We have pasted them on autorickshaws, commercial vehicles, trucks and every possible place. We hope somebody calls us on the number printed on the posters,” he said.

The police said they are still clueless about the girl’s whereabouts and a team under the supervision of a sub-inspector is looking for her.

“We have contacted our counterparts in Ghaziabad, Delhi, Bulandshahr, Hapur, Baghpat, Meerut, etc. Her details and photographs have been sent to various police stations. So far, we have not got any leads,” said sub-inspector Kamlesh Yadav, who is investigating the case.

Meanwhile, the crime branch’s anti-human trafficking unit (AHTU) has also joined the search.

“AHTU is a specialised unit that works specially to solve such cases. It has played an important role in Operation Smile, which was launched to reunite missing children with their families. We hope the team finds the girl soon,” said a senior police official.
