Greater Noida: One held in Jewar for selling fake Aadhaar cards

One person was arrested on Monday for allegedly selling fake marksheets and Aadhaar cards at a photocopying shop in Jewar, police said. A computer, printer, fake marksheets and Aadhaar cards were allegedly seized from his possession by the police.

Jewar circle officer (CO) Dileep Singh said police had been getting information about a person making fake marksheets and Aadhaar cards in Jewar for quite some time. Based on the information, a decoy customer was sent to the shop on Sunday evening and a team led by Ajay Kumar Sharma, station house officer, Jewar police station, nabbed the man, Mukesh Sharma, red handed, Singh said.

Police said they recovered five fake marksheets of matriculation (2012), intermediate (2014), BA (2006) and MA (2010) issued in four names, three fake Aadhaar cards, one CPU, one monitor, one keyboard and one printer from the shop.

Mukesh hails from Vena village under Tappal police station in Aligarh district.

The circle officer said during questioning, Mukesh said his clients were local residents who would get fake marksheets of schools/colleges outside the district as companies in Noida and Greater Noida did not give employment to local applicants.

Singh said Mukesh also admitted that he had been in the business for the last two years and a large number of his clients succeeded in getting jobs. He would charge between Rs500 and Rs4,000 per marksheet and has sold fake marksheets and Aadhar cards to nearly 1,000 customers, Singh added.
