Noida power bills to be sent through SMS soon
Consumers are likely to get their electricity bills through SMS on their registered mobile numbers from April-end. The service of issuing bills to the consumers from meter readings will also continue, officials said.

Officials said that the SMS service will help consumers know their bill amount and speed up the process of making payments.
There are 2,59,316 (urban and rural) domestic consumers in the district, 25,774 consumers having commercial connections and 9,541 industrial consumers registered with Pashimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL).
AP Singh, the executive engineer (information technology), PVVNL, said that telephone numbers of subscribers available with the power corporation have been linked to the server.
“So far, one lakh telephone numbers have been linked to the server and in the next month, the details of another one lakh subscribers, including 40,000 from neighbouring Khora in the Ghaziabad district, will be linked to the server. Initially, our thrust is on urban consumers,” he said.
This will be a centralised service which will eventually cover nearly 14 lakh consumers under PVVNL in the western part of the state, Singh said.
He said the trials conducted in the last one month have been successful and the facility will be started soon. “After completing trials and bringing in more consumers under its ambit, we will place the report before senior officials (for review and approvals). As soon as they give a go-ahead for its launch, we will start the service. Hopefully, things will be in place before May,” Singh said.
He said a consumer can also get assist them in linking their number with the server, online, by logging on to www.uppclonline.com. He said that a consumer can provide his/her telephone number and the account number to receive electricity bills on their mobile phone.
Singh said that a consumer who does not get bill will also have the option of getting the bill by sending an SMS to the power department. A consumer can also receive their electricity bill by typing ‘bill’ followed by their electricity account number, separated by a space, to 5616195.
