Noida: Man held for raping, robbing wife in Sector 120

A resident of a highrise society in Sector 120 has been arrested for allegedly raping his wife and stealing her gold chain. The accused, who works with a private firm in Noida, was arrested on Monday night, police said.

“The complainant approached the Parthala police post near Sector 120 on Sunday and filed a complaint of rape and robbery against her husband. She said a few days ago, her husband raped her and decamped with her gold chain. A case was registered against the accused on the basis of the complaint. He was arrested while trying to flee the city,” said Pankaj Pant, station house officer, Phase 3 police station.

In her complaint, the woman told police that she hails from Bihar. She came to Noida in search of job. She met the accused in 2013 and they fell in love with each other. Police said they rented an apartment in a highrise in Sector 120 and moved in together.

“They stayed in a live-in relationship from 2013 to the middle of 2015. The woman then pressurised the accused to get married. She claimed that they registered their marriage in a local court. But after a few months, their relation soured and they started having fights over petty issues,” said Pant.

Police said last week, the accused left home with his wife’s gold chain and did not return. The woman claims that when she called him, he refused to come back and return the chain.

“A case under sections of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the accused. He was produced in the court and sent in judicial custody. The matter is under investigation. We are probing the case from all aspects,” said Pant.
