Noida: DM asks MNCs, BPOs to collect details of foreign nationals

In a first in Uttar Pradesh, the administration has ordered the multinational companies, BPOs, KPOs, IT and IT enabled services (ITES) operating in Noida and Greater Noida to conduct a security audit. The audit will have details of their employees, foreign nationals, building plans, emergency response teams, security guards and their weapons.

In a recent security review, the district magistrate NP Singh ordered MNCs that employed more than 500 workers to submit their security audit to the station house officer of the area police station at the earliest.

“The police must have information about the MNCs, BPOs and companies where more than 500 people work. This kind of mapping is required in all metropolitan cities for quick action during an emergency,” Singh said.

There are more than 400 MNCs, BPOs and IT companies in the twin cities that employ over 1.5 lakh people, including foreign nationals.

“In case of an alert on specific foreign nationals, the police must know the organisation they are employed with and also know where they live. It is important to know about reporting managers, HR managers and other employees who are responsible for their safety and transportation,” Singh said.

“Also, details of foreign nationals who are employed in the twin cities is to be submitted to the foreigner regional registration offices (FRROs) of the city,” Singh said.

In the first phase, the city administration has asked MNCs in four sectors of Noida and Greater Noida --Sector 58, Sector 20, Knowledge Park and Surajpur -- to do the audit.

MNCs have also been asked to give details of their private security guards and emergency response teams.

“The details of unarmed and armed guards and weapons will help the police chalk out a plan in case of an emergency. Also, a joint task force can be constituted with the help of the emergency response teams for quicker action during an emergency,” Singh said.

Asked about the DM’s order, officials of some MNCs said they were yet to receive any letter in this regard. However, they said they will comply with the DM’s orders.
