Three Noida cops booked for siphoning off goods recovered from thieves
Residents caught a thief and handed him over to the police, but the cops did not mention stolen items in the case file.
An FIR was registered against three policemen, including the former station house officer of Sector 39 police station, for allegedly siphoning off goods that were recovered from a thief. The case was lodged at Sector 39 police station on July 13, following an order from the district court.

The incident took place on November 13, 2015, when a temple in Sector 116 area was ransacked by thieves. The residents, however, managed to catch one of the thieves the next day while he was trying to sell the stolen goods worth Rs2.5 lakh to a local scrap dealer.
The accused, identified as Rizwan, was handed over to police with the recovered goods. The petitioner, Bhagwati Prasad, founder-member of the temple board, found that the police did not mention the recovered goods in their record and it was found missing from all papers. He moved the court seeking an FIR against the police.
“Following the order of the court, a case under sections of forgery and other relevant sections of Indian penal code has been registered against Dharmendra Chauhan (former SHO Sector 39), sub-inspector Swatantra Kumar and head constable Vijaypal Singh. The case is under investigation,” BR Zaidi, station house officer of Sector 39 police station, said.
In his petition, Prasad had accused the policemen of siphoning off all the stolen goods with a purpose to sell them. As the matter is related to senior police officers, a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) level officer will investigate the matter, police said.
