Greater Noida: Gaur City residents demand foot over bridge
The residents of Gaur City have demanded wrote a letter to the district magistrate, Greater Noida authority and the city traffic police demanding a foot over bridge in front of the residential society on Tuesday.
The residents of Gaur City have written a letter to the Gautam Budh Nagar district magistrate, Greater Noida authority and the city traffic police demanding a foot over bridge in front of their residential society.

The residents say lack of any zebra crossing and fenced central verge on the main road is creating trouble for the pedestrians who want to catch a bus or autorickshaw.
“The pedestrians risk their lives while crossing the road which connects Gaur roundabout to the national highway 24 (NH 24). As the number of residents is rising in the sub city, we need a foot over bridge for pedestrians,” said Amarjeet Rathore, a resident of Gaur City.
The members of New Era Flat Owners’ Association (NEFOWA) have written the letter to the administration seeking earliest construction on the foot over bridge.
“These are the basic necessities of any high rise residential society. The Gaur City is not just one society but a township. Also, many commercial activities are about to start from the Gaur City. The authority should construct a foot over bridge as the students, labourers and daily office goers are facing problems in crossing the road,” said Abhishek Kumar, president, NEFOWA.
The residents claim that the construction of U-turn and divider is not compatible for a residential society and in lack of speed breakers, the pedestrians have to sprint across the road.
“We have to actually dash across the road as there is not traffic cop, zebra crossing or speed breakers,” said Rajender Kumar, a resident of Gaur City.
The district magistrate NP Singh said a foot over bridge is indeed required in such situation.
“I have asked the Greater Noida authority to explore the possibilities of construction of a foot over bridge near Gaur City. A mall is also proposed there so the foot fall is going to rise soon. Demand of a foot over bridge seems to be completely legitimate,” said Singh.
The Greater Noida authority maintained that they have constructed foot over bridges at many localities to ensure safety of pedestrians near high rise societies.
“We definitely want to ensure safety of pedestrians in residential areas with heavy traffic movement. Let the residents send a detailed proposal, we will explore the possibilities,” said Deepak Aggarwal, chief executive officer (CEO), Greater Noida authority.
