G Noida: 17-year-old murdered for resisting rape by cousin

A 17-year-old girl was murdered for resisting rape by her cousin, police said. The incident occurred at 8pm on Monday. The accused, Anil, 22, a resident of Mandawali area of Delhi, was arrested, police said.

“The incident occurred when the victim was alone at her rented accommodation at Kulesra village. The victim’s cousin, Anil, had come to meet her. He tried to rape her but when she resisted, he strangulated her with the help of a piece of cloth and dumped the body in the adjacent empty plot,” said Abhishek Yadav, superintendent of police (rural), Gautam Budh Nagar.

The victim’s mother returned home around 8.30pm and found Anil sitting in her house. Her daughter was missing though, police said.

“When she asked Anil about her daughter, he gave suspicious answers. When she noticed scratch marks on Anil’s face, she called neighbours for help. Anil tried to flee but the neighbours caught him and asked about the girl. He confessed about strangulating her and dumping the body in an adjacent empty ground,” Yadav said.

The neighbours called the police and handed over the accused to them. He was arrested under relevant sections of IPC. He was produced in court and sent to 14-day judicial custody, police said.

“The accused had tried to molest the victim six months ago. After the incident, he was asked not to come to her residence. The victim’s father had died five years ago and her mother worked in a factory,” Yadav added.
