Dadri lynching: Accused seek details of meat, remains of carcass found in Bisada

Counsel of the accused in Dadri lynching case on Wednesday demanded the details of the meat and remains of the carcass that were recovered from Bisada village.

On the night of September 28, a mob had attacked Mohammad Ikhlaq and his son Danish over allegations that the family slaughtered a cow and stored its meat for consumption. Ikhlaq succumbed to injuries while Danish survived with a fractured skull.

In his application, advocate Ram Sharan Nagar requested the court to ask the police to submit the location from where the meat was recovered, its size and width. Forensic reports has said the meat was that of a ‘cow or its progeny’.

“As an FIR of cow slaughter has been registered against the Ikhlaq’s family, it is important to keep track on the meat and the remains of the animal that were recovered from the village. We have requested the court to ask the police to submit the details,” Nagar said.

The police said they are investigating the case of cow slaughter and they might do a recreation of the sequence of events soon.

“The matter is under investigation. Whatever is required in the probe will be done,” said Anurag Singh, deputy superintendent of police, Dadri.

Ikhlaq’s family said they are cooperating in the probe.

“We have not done anything wrong. We are ready to face any probe. The SSP has also assured us a fair probe. We are in talks with our counsel for further legal proceedings,” said Jaan Mohammad, Ikhlaq’s brother.

On Friday, the Jarcha police lodged an FIR against Ikhlaq and six of his family, including Jaan Mohammad, for allegedly slaughtering a cow and storing its meat.

A petitioner from Bisada village had sought registration of FIR against Ikhlaq and his kin citing the forensic report of the meat allegedly recovered from his fridge.
