Chargesheet filed against 15, two more arrested in Bisada lynching case

The Dadri police on Wednesday chargesheeted 15 people and arrested two more persons in the Bisada beef lynching case. The 15 people, including two juveniles, are accused of lynching Mohammad Ikhlaq, 55, and critically injuring his son Danish over rumours that they ate and stored beef on the night of September 28.

“The chargesheet has been filed against 15 persons. An additional chargesheet will be filed against two more persons who were arrested on Wednesday. Two persons are absconding and they will be arrested soon,” said Anurag Singh, deputy superintendent of police, Dadri, Greater Noida.

The police said they had not yet received the report on the pieces of meat they had recovered from the spot.

“In the case diary, we have mentioned that the accused persons had attacked Ikhlaq’s house after he was accusing of cow slaughter (that was announced) on the loudspeaker of the local temple. The accused persons found pieces of meat in the refrigerator at Ikhlaq’s house and claimed it was cow meat. We have not received the forensic report on the pieces of meat yet. When it comes, it will be submitted in court,” said Singh.

The men arrested on Wednesday were Punit Sisodia, and Bheem Singh. Both are in their early 20s and are small-time farmers.

“Bheem and Punit were nabbed when they returned to their homes in Bisada village on Wednesday . They were arrested on the statement of Danish’s sister Shaista in court .They are charged with murder and assault. An additional chargesheet will be filed against the duo,” said Anurag Singh, deputy superintendent of police, Dadri.

The police said 17 out of total 19 identified accused had been arrested so far. A manhunt had been launched for the remaining two .

“Both Bheem and Punit confessed of being present at the spot when the incident occurred. But they denied their involvement in the incident. They were produced in court and sent to judicial custody for 14 days,” Singh said.

On Tuesday, the police had held five accused in the case, including a home guard and a juvenile from the village. Ten accused in the case were earlier held in October and November and are in jail.
