The incident in question had taken place at 11am on Saturday when Dedha allegedly hit four people near gate number 7 of Noida stadium. One person, Ghulfam Ali, 22, was killed while three others were injured. Dedha had sought three days’ time from the court to surrender, which ended on Thursday.

“On Thursday, the accused did not appear before the court. The matter was then shifted from the court of the additional sessions judge to that of the chief judicial magistrate. We had sought a NBW against the accused, which the court has granted. Our teams are already in search of the accused who has been absconding since the incident,” said Neeraj Kumar Singh, in-charge, Sector 24 police station.

Dedha, a resident of Mayur Vihar Phase 1 area of Delhi, operated a gym in Noida’s Sector 22. The BMW, which has a registration number of Haryana, is owned by a woman, but was being used by Dedha. According to the police, at the time of the incident, Dedha was racing with some friends who were in another car, which he later used to escape from the spot.

“Witnesses said Dedha flashed a pistol after abandoning his car near Noida stadium after the incident and fled in another luxury car that was racing with him. We are verifying the facts. We have also checked the CCTV footage of all exit points of the city, but found no leads,” Singh said.

The city police is also seeking help of its counterparts in Delhi to nab Dedha.

“Multiple teams are conducting raids at his possible hideouts. His family members and friends are being questioned. He has apparently switched off his mobile phone and we are not able to trace its location,” Singh said.
