BJP-BSP were like brother and sister: Shivpal Yadav in Dadri

Taking a dig at the ongoing row between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), minister Shivpal Singh Yadav on Monday said the parties were bound by a ‘rakhi’ before but have now parted ways.

Speaking to the media after inaugurating a Tehsil Bhawan at Dadri, Yadav said, “According to me, no foul language shall be used against any woman. A BJP leader used such remarks against Mayawati. But there was a time when the duo (BJP and BSP) were like brother and sister.”

“Now it seems like they have parted their ways and abusive language is being used. FIRs have been registered in these cases and the police will do a fair probe,” Yadav said.

On July 20, state BJP leader Dayashankar Singh used derogatory remarks against BSP chief Mayawati. Singh, who was the BJP vice-president in UP, was expelled from the party for six years after uproar in Parliament and protests on streets. An FIR was also lodged against him.

However, a number of BSP supporters allegedly retaliated by making derogatory slogans about Singh’s daughter in the presence of BSP leader Nasimuddin Siddiqui. Singh’s wife Swati also filed an FIR against Siddiqui for allegedly provoking his supporters to make those remarks.

Shivpal, brother of SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, claimed that the real development of the state is being done by the incumbent government.

“For the betterment of farmers, the state government has constructed 41 tehsil bhawans across the state... it will be easily approachable for farmers. This tehsil bhawans are constructed at a cost of Rs 4.40 crore,” the minsiter said.

He also maintained that the SP is going to contest in the upcoming assembly elections alone without any support of any other party.

“We are in talks with no party. So far, we are planning to contest alone,” said Yadav. The assembly elections are scheduled next year in Uttar Pradesh.
