Armed men posing as cops allegedly robbed an SUV from a chemist at Sector 66 in Noida on Wednesday night.
Armed men posing as cops allegedly robbed an SUV from a chemist at Sector 66 area Wednesday night. The incident occurred at about 11.30 pm when Gulkesh Kumar, 45, was returning from the ring ceremony of his niece at Orange Pie hotel at Sector 66.

“I had parked my three-month-old Hyundai Creta at the opposite side of the road at some distance from the hotel. At about 11.30 pm I left the venue and asked my family to wait at the entrance of the hotel and I went to get my car. I saw three people, two of whom were in police uniform walking towards me. As I sat in the car, they held me on gun point,” said Kumar.
Kumar said he tried to resist but they posed as cops and shouted like they are trying to arrest him.
“Two of them had put gun on my head and chest from the window of the driver’s side while one of them tried to open the door from the other side. After two-three failed attempts, one of them grabbed my neck and pushed me into the seat. As one of them opened the door, I kicked him on the chest and escaped from the spot. As I shouted for help, the attackers sat in my car and drove away before anyone could have reacted,” said Kumar.

He said the attackers had come in a car, model of which he did not remember. Also, he said that the robbers were wearing police uniform with berets worn by Delhi police constables.
“After the incident I realized that they were not UP cops. They were wearing uniform with round khaki berets which are worn by Delhi or Haryana policemen. I called the police control room immediately and informed them about the incident,” said Kumar, who runs a chemist shop in Sector 12.
The police said they are investigating the case from each aspect.
“A team was constituted to investigate the case. We have found CCTV footage but it is not clear. Role of cops from other state will be investigated,” said Pankaj Pant, station house officer, Phase 3 police station.
Earlier on Tuesday, the city police had arrested a deserter of the Border Security Force (BSF) who was allegedly involved in robbing and extorting money from people posing as a cop.
