What IS is doing is against Islam, says Mecca cleric
MUMBAI: Imam Shaykh Adil Ibn Salim Al Kalbani, one of the Imams of the Grand Mosque of Mecca city denounced the Islamic State (IS) by saying, “The activities of IS are against the teachings of Islam. They have misinterpreted the holy Quran. Muslim clerics must come forward to make people aware about the true teachings of Islam and Prophet Muhammad.

He also advised Muslim youths from across countries follow the teachings of reputed clerics only that they are not misled in the name of Islam.
He said, “Activities of the IS are contrary to the tenets of Islam. They have wrongly interpreted Quran in relation to Jihad. Muslim clerics and scholars must come forward to clear the misconceptions.”
“While doing so, they must refer to the practices of Prophet Muhammad and the way he lived his life,” he added.
He then quoted instances where the Prophet pardoned his opponent and chose to perform funeral prayers for him. “If clerics follow the same then things can change and Muslim youths can be refrained from joining IS in the future, he said.
