Charge-sheet filed in Bihar board toppers’ scam
PATNA: Police on Monday filed a chargesheet, over 4,100 pages long, in the vigilance court here in the Inter toppers’ scam that rocked Bihar in June.

The charge-sheet was filed against 32 persons, including former Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) chairman Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh, his wife Usha Sinha (former principal of Ganga Devi Mahila Mahavidyalaya in Patna), Bachcha Roy (director of VR College in Vaishali) besides four students, 20 government employees and eight others in different cases.
Four toppers were also named in the charge-sheet.
According to senior police and judicial officers, the charge-sheet is the most voluminous case diary after the multi-core fodder scam in the state in the 1990s.
Singh, his wife, Roy and two former board secretaries are among those already in jail.
SSP Manu Maharaaj said the charges against the main accused have been corroborated with evidence found during investigation. “They have been chargesheeted under sections 490, 420, 465, 467,120(b), 188, 201 and 202 of the IPC and sections 8, 9, 13 (1)(c)(d)(e) and sec 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988,” he added.
