Million views and counting: Meeruthiya Gangsters are a hit

First it was writer-director Zeishan Quadri’s Meeruthiya Gangsters’s digital motion poster that grabbed eyeballs, and now it is the film’s trailer that is getting a great response on social networking sites.

The trailer has got close to 1.5 million hits on YouTube within two days of its release. Delighted with the public’s reaction, producer Shoeb Ahmed says, “We knew the trailer would click with the youth, but we didn’t imagine that it would be a hit of such magnitude.

The entire team is thrilled to see their hard work and passion being rewarded. And, this is just the beginning.” Equally excited is Zeishan.

He says, “As a debutant director, you look forward to the response a trailer gets, since it is a sign of what lies ahead for the film. And with every passing day, I am getting confident that we hopefully have a winner on our hand. It’s amazing to have your work liked not only by the industry at large, but even by the audience –– the youth.”

The gangster film, starring Jaideep Ahlawat, Aakash Dahiya, Sanjay Mishra, Mukul Dev and Nushrat Bharucha, among others, recently had film-maker Anurag Kashyap come on board as the editor as well as the presenter. The dark humour-based film on real-life incidents is a story of six friends from Meerut, UP, and their adventures and misadventures in the world of crime.

Presented by Prateek Group and Anurag Kashyap and produced by Prashant Tiwari, and Prateek Tiwari, Meeruthiya Gangsters is set to release on September 18.
