Justin Bieber show 5 hits and misses: No traffic snarls, but no dustbins at Mumbai venue either

Although the Justin Bieber concert at Mumbai’s DY Patil stadium on Wednesday was a fairly well-coordinated event, it had its own share of ups and downs.

We tell you what worked and what didn’t :

HITS

Clear roads: In the afternoon, the roads leading to the venue were surprisingly clear before the concert. The fact that several VVIPs arrived by choppers helped.

Family bonding: Given that most Beliebers are tweens and teens, many turned up with parents. We could see parents and kids genuinely bonding at the gig.

Food courts: Irrespective of which class tickets you held, the food courts were arranged properly in each section.

Punctuality: The event started sharp on time. Not just the opening acts by Alan Walker and Zaeden, but Justin’s gig kicked off at 8.10pm too.

No pushing: The crowd was super-relaxed and well behaved. No pushing, shoving or unruly behaviour was witnessed.

MISSES

No dustbins: There were no dustbins inside the venue or outside. The field was trashed with empty water bottles and packets of chips by the end of concert

Loo problem: The washrooms were poorly maintained, apart from the ones in VVIP and VIP lounges.

Long gap: There was a gap of almost 45 minutes with nothing happening on the stage between Alan Walker’s performance and Bieber’s entry. This could have been avoided.

Watered down: Despite water being available for free at the venue, hawkers were allowed to sell bottled water for as much as Rs150.

Managing trouble: By the time the concert got over and people started leaving, the roads were jammed and the traffic was unmanageable.
