Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation chief Subodh Kumar, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority chief Rahul Asthana and joint commissioner of traffic police Vivek Phansalkar attended the celebration held at St Xavier’s College.

“We have been working relentlessly for the betterment of the city. Our victory in the Bombay high court that banned strikes by municipal workers is a landmark in the history of this city,” said Shyama Kulkarni, a trustee.

The organisation’s plan for this year included improving the garbage disposal system and increasing the safety measures for students in night schools.

“We don’t have a policy for enrolling volunteers. This helps us ensure that people from various walks of life become a part of Agni. This has helped us grow,” said Rajkumar Sharma, ward coordinator, M-east and west wards.
