Contrary to the allegations by the MLAs, Patil said that the police had no intention of arresting the MLAs inside the Vidhan Bhavan premises on Wednesday evening.

Speaker Dilip Walse-Patil, too, had directed a probe into the motive behind the move.

“We [Patil and director general of police Sanjeev Dayal] met the speaker on Thursday and clarified the issue. Patil said that the meeting of the top IPS officers on Wednesday was to appreciate the support of the political leaders after the attack on Suryavanshi.
