A twenty-seven-year-old Chartered accountant lost his life when he tried to jump from a moving train on Monday. The deceased, Makarand Bartakke, a resident of Pune, was on an official visit to Thane.

“Bartakke boarded the Manmad-Mumbai Panchvati Express from Igatpuri at around 8.00 am. He wanted to submit a few official documents to a firm in Thane. However, he was unaware that the train did not halt at Thane,” said a Kurla GRP official.
“When the train slowed down at platform no. 4 in Mulund, he tried to jump off the train. Unfortunately he fell between the train and the platform,” the official said.
His left leg was caught in between the wheels of the train and was cut off. He also suffered injuries on his right toe and head.
He was admitted to the nearby Veer Sawarkar hospital in Mulund. He succumbed to his injuries at around 2.00 pm.
Bartakke worked with Shashank Patki and associates as a CA in Pune. His parents reside in Guhagar Ratnagiri District.
Rohan Bidavi, one of his colleague, said, “We both are from the same firm though I work in Thane branch and he was in Pune. He came to stay over at my house in Kalyan on Friday.”
“During the weekend, he went to visit his maternal aunt in Igatpuri, and was supposed to go directly to Thane by the Panchvati Express when the accident took place,” Bidavi said.
