Urging residents to make the city litter-free, the Thane Municipal Corporation has installed 12 techbins across the city.

By using these bins, one can win gift vouchers, gold coins and can also get cash in their ‘Paytm’ wallets.

“The techbin at Singhania School was inaugurated last week. Thirty techbins will be installed by month-end,” said Manisha Pradhan, head of pollution control department, TMC.

The official from the pollution control department said that 200 techbins will be installed across the city by year-end.

A lucky draw will be conducted once a year for one-gram gold coin.

“The initiative will push the citizens to keep the city clean,” said Rohan Vyas, 28, from Louiswadi, Thane.

The bins will be installed in the public places such as bus stops, station area, markets, gardens and lakes. Each of these bins has a capacity of 180 cubic metres. The sensors installed at the bins will alert the operators once it is full.
