Two who snatched 78-year-old Mumbai woman’s chain worth Rs75,000 held
Mumbai police recovered valuables worth Rs1.47 lakh and a motorcycle from the accused
Bandra police arrested two chain snatchers on Sunday for attacking a 78-year-old on Wednesday morning. The senior citizen was out on a morning walk with her husband, when the bikers assaulted her and fled with her chain.

Bandra police formed teams to arrest the accused, Mohommad Danish Siraz Shaikh, 20, and a 17-year-old, who fled following the incident. While Shaikh is a resident of Nirmal Nagar, the minor is a Shastri Nagar resident.
Acting on a tip-off, they nabbed the two outside their homes. Police said the accused are history-sheeters and several cases of robbery have been registered against them.
They recovered valuables worth Rs1.47 lakh and a motorcycle.
“Parvati Kinney and her husband go for a morning walk daily. At 6.55 am on Wednesday, they were at KC Marg when the two bikers snatched the gold chain. She lost her balance and fell,” said an officer.
Kinney suffered minor injuries. “She told us she doesn’t usually wear jewellery during her morning walk, but she had attended a function the previous day and had forgotten to take off her necklace,” said the officer.
Police said the gold chain was worth Rs75,000.
Police have registered a case under sections 392 (punishment for robbery), 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. The two accused were produced in holiday court on Sunday and remanded in police custody.
