Mumbai mechanic held for selling stolen bikes on OLX
Khijar Hayat Nazir Sayyad would change the chassis and registrations numbers and then sell the bikes at a cheaper price
A team from DB Marg police station arrested a mechanic who would steal high end bikes and sell them on OLX after changing their chassis and registration numbers. The accused has been identified as Mira Road resident Khijar Hayat Nazir Sayyad, 42. Cops said Sayyad was first arrested in January for similar offences. However, after securing bail in April, he went back to selling stolen bikes.

An officer from DB Marg police station said, “Being a mechanic, the accused knows how to start locked bikes and would take just five minutes to do so after selecting one. He would later change the chassis and registrations numbers and then sell it at a cheaper price. He would modified the stolen vehicles and sold them mostly to youngsters, as they were easy targets.”
An officer added that Sayyad was nabbed red-handed while stealing a motorcycle last weekend. Following his arrest, cops recovered four bikes. Similarly, 18 motorcycles were recovered from Sayyad following his apprehension in January.
During the course of investigation, cops learnt that Sayyad sold the stolen bikes on OLX as he believed no informant would be able track and tip-off the police about his activities. He has been booked under section 379 (theft) of the Indian penal Code and is currently in police custody.
