IGCSE, A level exam results: City sees rise in students scores
More than 45,000 students attempted the exam from across the country
City schools performed well in the March exam series of the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) organised by Cambridge International, with many students scoring 90% and above.

The results for the IGCSE (Class 10 equivalent), AS (Class 11) and A Level (Class 12) exams were announced on Thursday. With more than 45,000 students attempting the exam from across the country, the March 2019 series witnessed a growth of 17% over last year.
At Witty International School, Malad, of 157 students who appeared for the exams, over 15% have scored above 90%. Bijo Kurian, founder principal of the school, said, “We are very proud to have achieved excellent results in IGCSE and A Level examinations. This year, 50% of our students have secured a distinction, with an overall aggregate of 79% of the combined scores.”
At SVKM’s JV Parekh International School in Vile Parle, three IGCSE students secured world topper positions in Math by scoring 100% in all the subject’s components.
Ryan Global Schools in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, recorded its highest number ever of students who scored A grades. Two of the toppers from Universal School in Ghatkopar scored A grades in all their subjects.
At Utpal Shanghvi Global School and PPS International Junior College, 22.94% of 170 students who took the exams scored 90% and above. Goregaon-based Vibgyor High recorded a cent percent result.
“The March series has become the largest and the most popular examination series for Cambridge International in India. Most university admissions in India begin around June-July and writing exams in March enables our students to get their results in time to meet the admission deadlines,” said Ruchira Ghosh, regional director, South Asia, Cambridge International.
