A sessions court has convicted a former member of the Ravi Pujari gang, arrested on an attempt to murder charge, and sentenced him to seven years in prison and a fine of Rs2,000.
According to the police, Arvind Devadiga, 42, was arrested for stabbing a man in Sakinaka last year. Devadiga stabbed Vipul Mandal below his chest with a chopper as he and his family were trying to protect a local woman from Devadiga.
Mandal was rushed to hospital and survived the stabbing. This is the first case in which Devadiga, who has 18 crime cases against him, has been convicted.
