Cops don’t go home for 8 days, solve south Mumbai chain snatching case
The robbery took place on May 1 and senior police officers ordered their juniors not to go home till they solved it.
The Gamdevi police’s hard work paid off when they arrested two men on Monday for allegedly snatching a 62-year-old woman’s gold chain at Babulnath Road last week. The police team slept, ate and worked at the police station for eight days to solve the case.

The robbery took place on May 1 and senior police officers ordered their juniors not to go home till they solved it.
The suspects — Nagesh Pawar alias Nagya, 28, and Omisingh Yadav, 21 — are residents of Nalasopara and P D’Mello Road.
Varsha Khambati, the complainant, was on her evening walk on May 1 when the incident occurred.
An officer from Gamdevi police said, “Khambati usually goes for an evening walk with her husband Deepak, 65, but that day he was caught up with work so she went alone.”
The CCTV footage from the area helped cops crack the case. “Pawar first asked Yadav to hire a cab to escape. He was seen snatching her chain before fleeing in a cab,” added an officer.
“Both of them had left the city and once they came back, we nabbed them at Wadi Bundar,” added the officer. Pawar was wanted in three similar cases.
