A 41-year-old bar manager who was riding pillion died while the rider, the bar owner, was injured after a speeding truck knocked down their motorcycle at Wadala early on Wednesday.
A 41-year-old bar manager who was riding pillion died while the rider, the bar owner, was injured after a speeding truck knocked down their motorcycle at Wadala early on Wednesday.

According to the Matunga police, the deceased has been identified as Mahadev Poojari. The accident occurred at R.A.K road at Wadala flyover junction around 12.20am. “Bar owner Uday Shetty was riding the motorcycle while Poojari was seated pillion when the accident occurred. The truck suddenly turned to take the Wadala flyover, trapping the motorcycle on its left rear wheels,” said Balasaheb Kakad, senior police inspector, Matunga police station.
Due to the impact, Pujari was thrown off the bike and hurt grievously. He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead. Shetty too has sustained injuries on his legs and forehead. The accused truck driver has been arrested and charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for causing death due to rash and negligent driving.
The duo was riding to Sewri railway station after closing the bar when the accident occurred. Both of them were residents of Thane.
