After chaos, students get time till May 4 for RTE admission in Thane
Admission for the first round of shortlisted students was Friday but parents alleged that schools did scrutinise the documents
After complaints from parents that they were unable to complete the admission process under the Right to Education (RTE) process on the last day, the education department extended the deadline to May 4.

Admission for the first round of shortlisted students was Friday but parents alleged that schools did scrutinise the documents.
“We spoke to senior officials and as they had received similar complaints from other areas. A circular was sent to us by the state education department, informing us about the extension of date to May 4 for RTE admissions,” said Sangeeta Bhagwat, education officer, zilla parishad, Thane.
“The extension is a boon. After my child was selected in the first lottery, I finished the verification process and took all the documents to the school. However, they told us to wait and kept delaying. They told us that they will get back to us after a week. It was chaotic,” said Vinayak Dhule, a parent who is seeking admission for his son.
