Six men with weapons entered a stock market trading office near the Chahatrapati Shivaji Terminus around noon on Tuesday and fled with Rs75 lakh and mobiles worth Rs39,700. As there were no CCTV cameras in the office, the police are yet to identify the suspects.
Officers at the Azad Maidan police station said the incident took around noon on Tuesday, when three employees — Santosh Chaudhary,28, Amit Ansari,28, and Ashutosh Udadhyay,27, were in the office on Kawasaji Street. The employees said the six men walked into the office, assaulted them and walked off with the money and mobile phones.
“The six accused entered the office, according to the victims’ statements. They were carrying weapons, they initially assaulted the three employees and fled with the cash and mobiles,” said Manoj Sharma, the deputy commissioner of police (zone 1). A case was registered by the firm’s owner Mahesh Laxmikant,47.
The police officials investigating the case said the office premises were not under CCTV surveillance, which has made their job difficult. The police team investigating the case suspects the involvement of an insider. The six suspects have been booked for dacoity.
