23-yr-old boy strangled to death in Andheri chawl

A 23-year-old boy was found murdered in a chawl in Marol area of Andheri (East) in the wee hours on Wednesday. The deceased used to live in a rented accommodation with around eight to 10 people and investigations point towards involvement of two-three of them in the murder.

Police suspect that the deceased, identified as Imran Khan, was strangled using a cloth by his colleagues-cum-roommates, who were all working in the catering business, over a personal dispute.
A native of Uttar Pradesh, Khan was working in the city as a sub-contractor supplying men to work on daily wages in catering business. He lived in Chimatpada chawl, behind Badi Masjid in Marol area of Andheri (East).
Khan was found lying unconscious inside his rented room and other than strangulation marks on his neck, no other signs of external injury were witnessed. The accused fled the spot while taking away his money and mobile phone.
The Sahar police said their control room received a call at around 3.40 am after which they rushed to the spot. A panchnama has been done and the body sent for autopsy to Cooper hospital. Senior police inspector B Mukhedkar of Sahar police station confirmed the development.
Also, a murder case has been registered under IPC Section 302 and a special team including detection staff has been formed to nab the culprits.
