Additional chief judicial magistrate PK Jayant rejected Lallu’s bail plea, pronouncing him guilty of trying to evade his hearing before the court in two criminal cases filed against him.
After issuance of a non-bailable warrant, the court issued notice of seizure of his property following which the MLA appeared in the court and sought bail.
Dismissing his bail plea, the court ruled that the common people will lose faith in judiciary if lawmakers themselves do not give regard to the legislations.
Out of eight cases filed against Lallu between 2001 and 2008, he was granted bail in six. He was convicted in the other two. In the first case, the MLA was booked for clashing with police in 2000 at Dudhi district hospital after some patients created ruckus. In another case, an FIR was lodged against him in 2001 for leading a protest.
He did not depose before the court for hearing in these two cases since 2008 despite several notices.
The court has set June 30 as the next date of hearing.
