After being brought from Lucknow, Sengar was first escorted to the Nawabgunj community health centre for a medical examination. He was then taken to the Unnao district jail, where five other accused – including his brother Atul Sengar – have been lodged on charges of murdering the rape victim’s father.

The CBI is yet to bring along Shashi Singh, a co-accused in the rape case. Her CBI remand also expires on Friday.

The BJP MLA from Bangarmau in Unnao district was arrested by the central agency from his residence in Indira Nagar, Lucknow, on April 13 after the victim accused him of raping her last June. He has been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act as the victim was 17 years old at the time of the alleged incident.
