Teachers of an UP Board affiliated college in Allahabad have come up with a novel idea for providing education to students on a larger platform by uploading class room lectures on YouTube. College principal Lal Chand Pathak told HT, “After starting smart classes around four years back, teachers of our institution thought of uploading classroom lectures on YouTube, which would help in imparting education to students on a larger platform besides putting an effective check on the growing menace of private coaching institutes.”

He further said, “Recently we started recording classroom lectures on mathematics and computer. In view of the positive response, now we will gradually record and upload lectures of other subjects as well,” he added.

One of the mathematics classroom lecture on ‘Continuity and function’ taught by Mahendra Singh Patel has been uploaded on YouTube with the name MS Patel e-learning. In just two weeks the video received 427 hits.

Similarly, computer classroom lectures given by BN Mishra have been uploaded on the channel with the name ‘BN Mishra Computer Education’. The lecture on ‘Number Systems’ uploaded four days ago has been viewed by 118 people.

Talking to Hindustan Times, UP Board secretary Neena Srivastava appreciated the move and said the initiative could find a place in future programmes of the Board. “No doubt the initiative by one of our institution is unique and helpful to students on larger scale. As of now I cannot commit to anything on the matter but it could find a place in the list of ‘things to do’ of UP Board in future,” she added.
