Bhojpuri superstar Ravi Kishan may try his luck in politics by contesting the Gorakhpur parliamentary seat, which has fallen vacant after chief minister Yogi Adityanath quit as an MP to be a member of the state upper house.
Kishan is scheduled to perform in Gorakhpur Mahotsav starting January 11.
Kishan, who recently joined the BJP and was welcomed by party president Amit Shah, says he is ready to contest if the chief minister allows him to do so.
“ Yogiji ka ashirwad mila to mai Gorakhpur se chunav ladne ko tayyar hun (I am ready to contest if Yogi blesses me),” said Kishan on phone .
However, Adityanath, who has represented the seat for 25 years, has not taken any decision on the ticket issue as the seat is also a matter of his prestige.
Kishan is scheduled to perform in Gorakhpur Mahotsav starting January 11. He had also campaigned for the BJP in Delhi municipal elections which were won by the BJP.
Notably, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, who helped Kishan join the BJP, had once unsuccessfully contested parliamentary election from Gorakhpur in 2009 on an SP ticket against Yogi Adityanath.
