Trinamool Congress names candidates for three Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand
‘Didi has fielded Prof Anjana Mahato from Jamshedpur, advocate Sanjay Kumar Pandey from Ranchi and Mondal Hansda from Rajmahal in Jharkhand as TMC candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections’
The All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) named candidates for 3 of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand. TMC president Mamata Banerjee has fielded professor Anjana Mahato as a candidate from the Jamshedpur seat and also announced candidates from Ranchi and Rajmahal seats. Mahato is an assistant professor in Bankura university’s law department.
“Didi has fielded Prof Anjana Mahato from Jamshedpur, advocate Sanjay Kumar Pandey from Ranchi and Mondal Hansda from Rajmahal in Jharkhand as TMC candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. We are exploring five more seats in Jharkhand and will declare the names of all the eight candidates in Ranchi in a day or two,” said Arjun Singh, TMC MLA from Bhatpara (West Bengal) and the party’s Jharkhand in-charge.
Prof Anjana Mahato, wife of Srikant Mahato, TMC MLA from Salboni (West Midnapore), said she was extremely happy and excited having been chosen to fight as a TMC candidate from Jamshedpur seat.
“I will fight the election on Didi’s ideology and tell the people of Jharkhand about policies like Kanyashri, Shishu Sathi, Matrijan, Swashthya Sathi and other such schemes. My focus will be on making people aware of the development and welfare schemes that the Mamata government has implemented in Bengal and try to bring those policies in Jharkhand as well,” said Anjana.
Though she is not a resident of Jharkhand but Anjana is counting on her strong network of relatives and well-wishers in Patamda, Jamshedur, Gaudih and Ghatsila.
Ranchi high court lawyer Sanjay Kumar Pandey said their party had fielded candidates in Jharkhand as part of Banerjee’s federal front (third front) with TDP, SP, BSP, BJD, TRS and other parties. “It’s not a fight of parties, castes or communities. It is a battle of issues and values. Our focus is on inflation, unemployment, women security and plight of farmers. There was no TMC in Bengal not much ago, but it was because of its work on these issues due to which it is now the ruling party there,” said Pandey.
