The Shiromani Akali Dal (Taksali) and AAP declared a tie-up for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in Punjab a week ago. But the deadlock over the Anandpur Sahib Lok Sabha constituency — from where the AAP has already announced Narinder Singh Shergill as its candidate and Taksalis want to field former deputy speaker Bir Devinder Singh — continues.
Shiromani Akali Dal (Taksali) president and Khadoor Sahib MP Ranjit Singh Brahmpura on Sunday said talks with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were on for the Anandpur Sahib Lok Sabha constituency.

Both the parties declared a tie-up for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in Punjab a week ago. But the deadlock over the Anandpur Sahib seat — from where the AAP has already announced Narinder Singh Shergill as its candidate and Taksalis want to field former deputy speaker Bir Devinder Singh — continues. A meeting between both the parties held in Chandigarh on Thursday remained inconclusive.
Brahmpura said the leadership of both the parties is sincere to have tie-up. “Our negotiations to end the deadlock are on and we are planning another meeting in Chandigarh soon,” he said.
Though both AAP and Taksalis sides are sure of poll alliance, they are still to reach an understanding on some constituencies, including the Anandpur Sahib seat where both parties have named their candidates.
